What is a Meadow?
A meadow is a deliberately designed plant community dominated by native grasses, sedges, and flowering plants (forbs). Unlike turf lawn, a meadow is not maintained by constant mowing, fertilizing, and watering. Instead, it is built to thrive in local soils and climate while supporting wildlife and healthy ecosystems. One of the most common misconceptions is that a meadow is simply an unmowed lawn. In reality, a true meadow is planned, intentional, and managed.

Late Summer and early Fall is the optimal time of the year to assess a property for prepping and installing a meadow while existing plants are in full growth. Fall is the preferred time to plant and seed. Native roots and seed need winter dormancy so your meadow can spring to life the following season!
